Friends of the Earth are Backing a Scottish Executive Bill Print E-mail
A bill was recently introduced by Sarah Boyack, who is the Edinburgh Central Labour MSP, which would allow green energy processes to be built into all new housing developments in Scotland.  She as a former environmental minister would like to ensure that renewable energy resources become an obligatory part of planning obligations.  There would also be a requirement for the Scottish Executive to set targets for the use of micro generation as a source of power for heat nd light in small businesses and homes.

Her campaign is being supported by Friends of the Earth Scotland who welcome the proposed use of solar panels and small wind turbines for households.  Their head of policy and research, Stuart Hay, has recently commented 'It is vital that technologies such as micro wind turbines and solar panels, etc, are available to every household in Scotland, if we are to reduce CO2 emissions and the causes of climate change.  Demonstration projects have shown that the micro technology does work in reducing emissions and also household fuel bills'.

Stuart Hay also hopes that the bill introduced by Sarah Boyack will remove administrative barriers and increase the incentives to enable these micro technologies to become a common sight on many of Scotland's roof tops.

The above Green project article appeared in a December edition of the Edinburgh Evening News.
