Fort William Medical Centre
The new Fort William Medical Centre encompasses over 4,000m2 of two storey accommodation to house three of the Fort William GP practices, including NHS facilities for dentistry, pharmacy and community facilities. The building is highly serviced using woodchip boiler plant as its primary heating fuel source, supplied locally. This both reduces the buildings carbon foot print and the travel distances involved with the fuel provision.

The building was thermally modelled with key areas if overheating in summer clearly identified and provided with additional ventilation to reduce this occurance to acceptable limits. The building utilised energy saving variable speed drives and the lighting in the offices was controlled from presence detectors. In addition an energy saving motor roomless lift was installed. The building was completed in 2006.
