Girvan Community Hospital
The construction of the new Girvan Community Hospital began in June 2008 and was completed in late 2009. The building is highly served and uses a host of low zero carbon (LZC) technologies.  Including a wind turbine, biomass boiler, rainwater recovery system, variable speed pumps and motors, lighting control systems, natural ventilation and a motor roomless lift.

The buildings energy performance has been assessed using dynamic simulation modelling and has achieved an A rating.

A BREEAM assessment was carried out on the Design and Procurement of the building and it was awarded a Very Good rating under the Bespoke 2006 criteria.

The NHS Ayrshire and Arran trust have piloted the future way in which new healthcare provisions are constructed.  This pilot exercise has been carried out within the framework of the traditional contract and funded the project directly with full Stakeholder consultation and involvement.
