Ecohomes is the domestic version of BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method). It is a measure of environmental performance that differentiates developments with a higher environmental value. The benefits to the developer include increased saleability and an improved image with public and investors. An Ecohomes rating can also be used to demonstrate a sustainable commitment to partner organisations and funding organisations. Occupants will benefit from reduced running and maintenance costs, a healthy and comfortable internal environment and reduced dependency on private car ownership. Assessment can be at the design and/or post construction stage of a project. The result in produced as a visible certificate showing the rating and full report. RSP employ three qualified and licensed Ecohomes assessors who can provide pre assessments or full assessments of housing developments. They also provide consultancy as to in which aspects of a design improvement would result in a higher rating.
