BREEAM Assessments

BREEAM is the BRE (Building Research Establishment) Environmental Assessment Method.  It measures the environmental performance of a building throughout its life.

A BREEAM assessment rates a building project on the environmental and sustainability aspects of the construction and design.  The BREEAM score is a percentage which correlates to a rating of outstanding, excellent, very good, good or pass.  A score of 85% or more achieves the highest rating of outstanding.  A BREEAM assessment can be carried out on a new or existing building.

A high BREEAM rating will add value to a project as it differentiates buildings with a higher environmental performance.  It shows that a building is ahead of current regulations and improves health and well being of occupants.  Running costs can be reduced and some local authorities and funding organisations now require a BREEAM assessment or similar for new large developments.

RSP are also now able to offer the BREEAM Accredited Professional Service which can gain two Innovation credits under  all BREEAM 2008 schemes.  The BREEAM Accredited Profession (AP) is involved from the early stages of a project and can advise on sustainable design and how this can be used to maximise the BREEAM rating.

ImageRSP has a team of qualified and licensed BREEAM assessors who can provide pre assessments, full assessments or simply advise on which aspects could be improved in order to achieve a higher rating.
