26-30 Charlotte Square for Corran Properties - October 2013

The £10m upgrade of the grade A listed world heritage site is nearing completion with the new accommodation offering the highest quality of space and attracting significant interest in the office sector.

Accommodation for the Edinburgh University  - October 2013

RSP have been successful in securing the building services design for the upgrade of listed buildings at Buccleuch Place and new build on Meadow Lane.

This multi million pound upgrade is the latest in a number of student accommodation projects secured by the practice.

Announcement on Energy Standards - September 2013

An announcement has been made on the next update to energy standards within Scottish Building Regulations following consultation in 2013.

Revised standards will be introduced broadly as consulted upon to deliver a 21% reduction in CO2 emissions from new homes and a 43% reduction in emissions from new non-domestic buildings however changes will not be implemented under October 2015.

The revised standards will be published later in 2013 to give the industry time to prepare for the changes.

Award for Biomedical Sciences Research Complex - May 2013

RSP were awarded the “Technical Innovation of the Year-Projects Category” at the Building Control Industry Awards 2013.

The project demonstrated an innovative approach to a collaborative energy solution for not just the new building, but the existing surrounding Buildings. This matched the Scientific goal of the Project for bringing together various Scientific disciplines for the betterment of Scientific research.

The Design Team, led by TTPM, with BMJ Architects, Grontmij, DI Burchill & RSP Consulting Engineers delivered the Client with a building that performs beyond the Universities expectations.

The Team consider the award a wonderful recognition for all the effort and attention to detail put into the Design and the subsequent construction and commissioning of the project by the Construction team led by Sir Robert McAlpine with assistance from Suttons & Enterprise Controls.

The Building has already achieved status as Scotland’s first BREEAM Outstanding Building and the first Laboratory Building in the world to achieve this standard.

The savings in energy costs are now able to be reinvested into achieving Scientific innovation.
