RSP has continuously worked in the healthcare sector since our formation in 1987 and have worked with a wide range of clients across the UK.

We have a proven track record with integrated biomass boiler designs at Fort William Health Centre for NHS Dumfries & Galloway, Girvan Community Hospital for the NHS Ayrshire & Arran Trust and Wythenshawe Hospital for the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust.

The construction of the new Girvan Community Hospital was completed in under a year. The building’s energy performance was assessed using dynamic simulation modeling and achieved an EPC “A” rating. The project was a pilot for new healthcare construction and has won the National Award for Best Sustainable Design at the Building Better Healthcare Awards in 2010 and the Health Facilities Scotland, Energy & Environment Award 2010.

RSP has also recently completed the building services design for Westerhailes Healthy Living Centre and Musselburgh Health Centre for NHS Lothian. The Musselburgh Health Centre was a 6,300m² facility and incorporated minor surgery, pharmacy services, dentistry, physiotherapy, dietary, radiology and GP services. The project was procured under a traditional contract and was completed in May 2012 on budget and on programme. The project obtained a BREEAM Excellent rating which included low energy solutions such as natural ventilation, LED lighting, low water consuming sanitation, underfloor heating and CHP.

We are currently proceeding with the design for the Lothian Bundle of health centres which includes North West Edinburgh, Firhill and Blackburn for the South East Hub.
