RSP’s experience in this sector has resulted in excellent working relationships with retail developers such as Premier Property Group, Forrest Developments, Crossland Properties Ltd, Scotmid and Miller Developments.

We have carried out be-spoke designs for niche outlets such as Schuh, White Stuff, Gap and Jack Wills as well as larger outlets for the likes of IKEA, Wicks, Homebase, Sainsburys and B&Q. We have been involved in large mall and open retail developments such as Clydebank Shopping Centre in Glasgow and the Four Seasons in Mansfield and Middleton Grange in Hartlepool, both for PPG, which included the designs for full replacement of fire protection systems while the centres both remained open and operational.

The White Stuff outlet which the practice was involved in, was their new flagship store at George Street, Edinburgh and was their largest retail space to date. The project was the refurbishment of an existing  Georgian property.    We incorporated heat recovery VRF and heat recovery ventilation plant into the building. RSP worked closely with specialist lighting designers, INTO, and interior designers AMD to ensure that all services were appropriately distributed and concealed however still providing the required servicing to the space to achieve the look and feel the client desired.

The Kingsgate Shopping Centre in Dunfermline, for Crosslands Property, was a £30m upgrade and extension development which included Debenhams as the anchor tenant. This 100,000 ft2 project also included Mall fresh air and smoke ventilation, an automatic sprinkler system, fire alarms and PA system. Separate incoming utility supplies were provided to all individual shop units.
